Communicating compassionately can seem pretty easy when you are feeling self-connected and fully present. But how do you handle situations in which you find yourself off balance, disconnected from your feelings and needs, and in a state of contraction and reactivity? How do you compassionately embrace this slice of life?
Two workshops with visiting CNVC-Certified Trainer Jeff Brown and Capitol NVC's Bob Wentworth
PARTICIPANTS: Designed for people with some previous NVC experience (such as Friday's introductory session)
Deepening Empathic Presence
What is it we communicate when we use verbal and nonverbal language to reach out to another person? We may believe we are offering our thoughts or even expressing our feelings, but the work of NVC leader Robert Gonzales* suggests that we are communicating a fundamental and precious form of life energy which, in NVC terms, we call needs.

Friday Mornings, 10:30-12:30
A daytime Practice Group for those who want NVC learning, growth, connection and empathy—at a time that might better fit into their schedules. This is a “Deepening Skills” group, with some previous NVC experience requested.
This is an on-going group whose members commit to making ongoing attendance a priority over a period of time. The group has decided to 'stay small', so there is often a waiting list for prospective members.
In Takoma Park, MD
Tuesday nights, 7:30 pm - 9:30 p.m.
This is an open, drop-in group. The format of the group will be determined
by those in attendance, depending on what needs are alive for people in the moment. This could include giving and receiving empathy; exploring NVC worksheets, role-plays, or NVC coaching; or talking about NVC and NVC principles--but will be guided by decisions of those present.
