Summer 2007 Reminder

Dear friends,

Due to some technical difficulties with our newsletter mailing program we are sending this unscheduled reminder about several upcoming events we want you to know about. There are more upcoming events listed on our website www.CapitolNVC.org

The Art of Listening.

June 23, 10am-4pm

“Why can’t you JUST listen?” my partner would ask me, and I’d reply “I AM listening!” which never worked and left me bewildered and angry. It wasn’t until I learned The Art of Listening that I was able to understand what he meant. Now I often hear “Thank you for listening.” What a change! In this workshop I will teach you how to do the same.

• Do you want to be heard and understood?

• Do you want to know how to truly hear and understand others?

• Then this workshop is for you!

The Art of Listening workshop will teach you how to listen deeply and understand the feelings and needs of the other person, no matter how they are expressing themselves. You will learn Empathic Listening skills that will help you to stay present and connected in the face of intense emotions. You will also learn how to prevent your reactions by taking care of your own feelings. You will have a personal experience of being heard and understood by others in the class and you will learn how to give others a gift of being fully understood. By mastering The Art of Listening you can create more connection, harmony and understanding in all your relationships.

The workshop is based on the work of Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, the creator of Nonviolent Communication (NVC). Those new to NVC and those with prior experience are welcome to attend.

When: June 23, 10am-4pm.

Where: The Center at Tenley Town, 2 blocks from the Tenley Town Metro station

Facilitated by Inessa F. Love, an NVC trainer registered as a Certification Candidate with the Center for Nonviolent Communication.

Contribution: $60 per person, $100 per couple. Sliding scale is available for those with financial constraints – email for details.

To Register: email (preferred) dcnvc@hotmail.com or call 202-251-2396.
